Saturday

Today, like most Saturdays, was busy.  I would say that the majority of our weekends are very busy, but we wouldn't have it any other way.  We like to be out and about and on the go!  We started off the day outside...mowing, weed eating, and blowing- typical Saturday routine.  Pat got a little overheated while mowing, so we decided against going to the pool like we had originally planned to do.  I was afraid Owen would be upset but he wasn't.  We got out his little baby pool and he had a blast!  We also made goop (corn starch and water) in his sensory table.  This boy is happy doing anything outside!

  After playing outside all morning, we went to Jay's to grab some lunch.  We still had some time to kill before Owen's nap so we took him over to Barnes and Noble to play with the trains when we were done eating.  For some reason, every time we walk through those doors, Owen decides to poop!

Pat had to make an unexpected trip to Charlotte tonight, so my parents came over and we took Owen to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time.  He was a little overwhelmed at first, but warmed up quickly!  He rode a bunch of rides, ate three pieces of pizza, played games, watched the animals dance, and gave Chuck E. Cheese a high five (the highlight of his night).

When we left, he said he was still hungry and asked for ice cream.  We took Mimi and Papa to Taste since they've never been there.  I could tell he really was hungry because he inhaled it!

*Here's a random fun fact for ya...when I was pregnant with Owen, tomorrow morning was when I went in labor!  8 days before my original due date!  Think this little pumpkin will be on the same schedule??

Here we are at almost 39 weeks and still no baby...

I went in yesterday for another cervical check and, once again, there was no progress.  Maybe she really wants fireworks on her birthday!  July 4th??

Hard work pays off!

This little boy seriously loves being outside and working in the yard.  Every Saturday he says the grass is tall and asks Pat to mow.  He is very observant and does things exactly like Pat.  For example, he sets out his lawn equipment right beside of Pat's, he does everything in the same order, he wants to wear the same clothes, hat, and glasses, and he puts his equipment up beside of Pat's in the garage when they are done.

 The other night we ran to Lowe's to pick up a few things.  While we were there Owen came across the wheelbarrows.  Out of no where he said, "Buy wheelbarrow with my money in my bank."  We told him we had to leave the wheelbarrow at the store but we would go home and count all of his money.  If he had enough, then he could come back the next day and buy it.  If he didn't have enough, then he would have to earn some more money (by helping in the yard, putting the trash can by the street, cleaning up his toys, etc).  Luckily, he had just enough money!  He pushed the wheelbarrow through the store, handed the cashier his money, asked her to cut the price tag off, and held on to the receipt...all while wearing his work gloves!

If you didn't already notice, his shirt is on inside-out.  He is going through a phase where he wants to dress himself, so we are trying to foster this independence as much as we can!

Dinner

Even though I've been resting a lot this week, I have really enjoyed preparing dinner and having it ready when Pat gets home from work.  It's nice to actually plan meals in advance for once!  Last night we tried a new one- chicken ranch burgers.  I had ground chicken in the freezer and wanted to make something different so I googled "ground chicken recipes".

You only need three ingredients:
1.  ground chicken
2.  1/2 cup bread crumbs
3.  dry ranch dressing packet

Combine all three of these things and grill or pan fry.  You can also make these ahead of time and freeze them.  Then put the frozen patties right on the grill.

We put a little Frank's Hot Sauce on them and they were quite tasty!

After going to today's appointment, unfortunately, there is no progress to report.  I'm still at 2 centimeters, 60% effaced.  The doc did say he was surprised to see me in his office again!  Until next time...

Doctor's orders for the week, "Since you aren't working, stay on the couch and nap often."  I can do that :)

Father's Day 2013

Friday fun

After dinner Pat and Owen hopped on the bike and headed to the playground at the lake.  Since I am in no condition to ride a bike, I drove up there and met them.  Owen played on the equipment, watched a dog swim in the water, and watched a sailboat being brought out of the lake.  

 We are looking forward to a relaxing, Father's Day weekend!

36 weeks?

Today I went to the doctor for my 36ish week check up.  I say 36ish because apparently my belly measures 36 weeks, but Emery measures 38 weeks.  Dr. T checked my cervix and said I was dilated 2 centimeters and 60% effaced.  Emery is in the 91st percentile for size, while my weight gain and measurements are in the 75th percentile.  Basically, I left the doctor's office knowing that she could come any day now!

Side note:  When I was 36 weeks pregnant with Owen, I was dilated 1 centimeter and 60% effaced.

Aspen's 1st Birthday Party
Last Saturday, Aspen's mommy and daddy threw the best 1st birthday party ever!  They had a pig pickin, adult lemonade stands, and lots of fun activities for the kids!  The weather was perfect, and the kids had a blast playing with each other.  Owen brought all of his lawn equipment to share, and he did a great job taking turns with everyone!  After going strong for four hours, he was sad when it was time to go.  Happy 1st Birthday, Aspen!  We love you :)

Last Day of School :)
Wednesday was officially my last day of school!  We had a teacher workday on Thursday, and graduation on Friday for a couple of hours.  Even though I will be extremely busy this summer, it is still a great feeling knowing that I AM DONE!!

Sesame Street Live!
Owen has been a bit challenging over the past week or so.  We aren't sure if this is an age thing, or if it is due to anxiety about his baby sister's arrival.  Whatever it is, we pray it's only a stage and it won't last long!  To help get through this, Pat and I decided we needed to do lots of fun things with him before the baby comes so he doesn't feel left out.  That's when we decided to buy tickets to see Sesame Street Live at the coliseum.  Owen loves Sesame Street so we knew he would love going!

(We were happy to see the Pack won their baseball game on Saturday afternoon!)

Big Brother/Sister Class
Today was Owen's big brother class at the hospital.  The teacher showed the children pictures of babies, talked about things babies do, demonstrated how to change a diaper and wrap a baby in a blanket, gave us a tour of the hospital, provided the children with a snack, and read a book about getting a new baby.  At the end of the class, each child received a certificate.  Honestly, I don't know if Owen got much out of it besides seeing the inside of the hospital and playing with the other kids!  Oh well, at least he is somewhat familiar with the hospital now!

Potty Training
We have been pretty successful with potty training at home.  Every time we change Owen's diaper he uses the potty.  He recently started standing up to go, which is a BIG milestone!  We put him in underwear twice today, but he had an accident both times.  We are slowly but surely making progress!
