Ready to be a big brother...

Could it be?

Friday evening (19 weeks pregnant) I felt the baby move for the first time! Everyone told me it would feel like flutters or gas bubbles. Well, mine felt like someone gently poking me in my lower belly. It happened three times in a row! I felt it again several times on Saturday. Pat and I were sitting in the car finishing our lunch before the pool on Sunday and he got to feel it! For some reason, Baby Lehman seems to be active after I eat.

*Note: The picture above is actually a real picture I found on the internet. How crazy to see the little foot!

Kayaks

Pat and I decided to get up early this morning and take the kayaks out on the lake. It was our first time taking them out this summer. We went early so we could beat the heat. The water felt amazing- too bad you can't swim in this lake...

Father's Day 2010

This was Pat's first unofficial Father's Day! How exciting to know that in 5 more months we will be parents!! I think we get more and more excited each week, knowing we are that much closer to holding Baby Boy Lehman! For Father's Day, I bought Pat two tickets to the Wyndham golf tournament here in Greensboro. The tickets include access to the tournament each day, a polo shirt, and a hat. Unfortunately, the tournament isn't until August (the hottest part of the summer I might add), so he will have to wait to enjoy them.

We celebrated Father's Day with Pat's family Saturday night. There were ten of us that went to dinner at Undercurrent downtown: Kathryn and Lamar, Pat and I, Katy and Paul, Ben and Martha, and Caroline and Kyle. It was quite delicious!

We celebrated with my parents and grandparents today by having brunch at Grandover. If you have never been, they have an outstanding brunch buffet. Every time we go, I get so excited about the main course that I "forget" to leave room for dessert- and they have about ten items to choose from! Needless to say, we weren't hungry again until about 8:00 this evening!

Hope all of you fathers out there had a great Father's Day!

Happy Birthday Raleigh!

Today is Raleigh's 3rd birthday. Since we failed to celebrate the last two years, we figured we better make up for it this year. When I got home from work, we gave the boys Frosty Paws for a yummy birthday treat out on the deck.

It's a BOY!!

Today was our 18 week appointment and we found out we are having a little boy! We are so excited! As soon as the ultrasound tech scanned my belly, there he was- legs up in the air and WIDE OPEN! There was no question this baby is definitely a boy. She said he weighs about 8 ounces and is 6 inches long. The heartbeat is 148 bpm. I haven't felt anything yet, but more than likely, I will in the next few weeks. Since my last appointment at 14 weeks, I have gained one pound. I asked the doctor about my weight gain (a total of four pounds) and she said it was fine because I haven't been sick, I have an appetite, and I exercise on a regular basis.

I have to go back in two weeks for another ultrasound because the doctor didn't get a clear look at the baby's heart (Baby Lehman decided he was done performing and curled up in a fetal position). Oh well, at least we'll get another look at him!

P.S. Pat claims he knew it was a boy all along, but I wasn't sure. The gender predictor tools predicted a boy, but in my dream I saw a girl. Of course, the only name we could agree on was for a girl, so HE is Baby Boy Lehman for now...

Poor pup

When we boarded Raleigh over Memorial Day, apparently he had a little too much fun. While he was there, he split one of his nails and it became infected. We noticed that his paw was a little pink and he constantly licked it, so Pat decided to take him to the vet this morning. They had to give him a shot and grind down his nail. They also gave us oral pain meds to administer three times a day. Raleigh is such a trooper...he hasn't messed with the bandage at all, and he takes his medicine like it's a treat! We go back on Friday to have the bandage removed.

FYI: Raleigh is becoming a lean, mean, buff machine these days, weighing in at 70 pounds (he used to weigh 75)!

16 weeks

Here are some belly shots at 16 weeks:

Less than 2 weeks until we find out the sex!!!

The start of something beautiful...

A few weeks ago, we received a phone call telling us our crib had arrived. So when we were at the beach for Memorial Day, we picked it up. This morning Kathryn and Lamar came over to help us put it together. With the four of us working on it, it didn't take long at all. I have to admit that Raleigh and Mason did a great job supervising! Here are a few pictures of the nursery so far:

Raleigh: "Hey dad, don't forget to tighten all of the bolts."

Mason: "Thanks for the new bed. This is awesome! I know where I'm sleeping tonight!"

Glider and bookcase: already stocked with books!

Memorial Day Weekend

For Memorial Day, we went to the beach with Kathryn and Lamar and Katy and Paul. Despite biker week, the weather was nice, and we had a great time. We went shopping (I bought lots of maternity clothes!), soaked up the sun on the beach, ate fresh seafood, watched the Pack play baseball, and played corn hole. It felt good to get some rest and relaxation!

Enjoying the day on the beach:

Once we got back from the beach, Pat and I picked up the boys from daycare. We could tell they had a great time while we were gone- as soon as they got in the car they were passed out! After dinner, Raleigh and I went upstairs to watch tv. A few hours later, this is how Pat found us:

So where was Mason?
He put himself to bed too...
