Last night, Owen had a sleepover at Nanny and Pops' house. Once Pat and I picked him up this morning, we ran a quick errand to Home Depot so we could get the supplies to make a DIY sensory table for O. We had to hurry home because he was quickly falling apart.

Owen is currently transitioning from one nap to two. After he slept for two hours this morning, I knew that would be it for today. Once he finally woke up, we headed out to Costco to pick up some groceries for the week. It was so cold and rainy so we decided to make Costco our only stop.

This afternoon, Pat and his dad put together Owen's new sensory table. I've been researching them online, and knew they were too expensive to buy, so I figured we could just make one ourselves. Here are the supplies you will need:

PVC pipes and a mixing tub:

Spray paint (if you choose to paint the base):

PVC cement and primer:

Helping hands:

You will also need a nylon strap to help support the tub.

The instructions called for a large tub, but we bought a small one since Owen will be the only one using it.

As you can see, he had a BLAST!

There are a ton of things you can put in a sensory table. We used packing popcorn and shredded paper because that's what we had on hand. Here are some other items that children love to play with:

-sand

-water

-dried rice

-uncooked oatmeal

-goop (corn starch and water)

-play-doh

-soapy water

-uncooked beans/pasta

-birdseed

-mud

-mulch

-sawdust

-flour

the list goes on...

*Some of these items are choking hazards so children should be closely supervised!!

Saturday

Saturday it was in the high 60's in Greensboro. Today it's snowing. Weird I know, but welcome to NC.

Saturday morning we woke up and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We usually go to Dunkin' Donuts or Delicious Bakery, but we decided to stay at the house this time.

After breakfast, O took his morning nap while Pat mowed and I got ready for the day. Owen and I had plans to meet Amy, Aiden, and Jordan at the children's museum.

Owen woke up at 11:00 so we headed out for our playdate.

He was watching as people brought in balloons for a birthday party!

While we were at the museum, we got to watch Native American dancing. Owen stood up, clapped his hands, and constantly signed "more"! I'm not sure what he enjoyed more, the dancing, singing, or drums!

Saturday night, Kathryn and Lamar watched O for us so we could cash in our Valentine's Day wine tasting gift to each other. We drove up to Stonefield Cellars Winery in Stokesdale, followed by dinner at Harper's.

We were surprised at how crowded many of the restaurants were last night. We tried three restaurants before we finally found one without an hour wait! As we were talking, we realized we never eat out after 6pm anymore.
