Happy 1st Birthday Aiden!

Saturday afternoon I went to Aiden's first birthday party. It was held at Amy's parents house at High Rock Lake. We ate lunch, went for a boat ride, had cake and ice cream, and watched Aiden open his birthday presents. I can't believe Aiden is already a year old!

28 week appointment

Today was my 28 week check-up and sugar test. Before arriving for my appointment, I had to drink a bottle of glucola (sugar water) within 5 minutes. It was terrible. I felt sick to my stomach drinking that much sugar early in the morning. Once I arrived at the doctor's office, they took blood to test for gestational diabetes. The purpose of this test is to detect the tendency of some patients to have elevated blood sugar levels during pregnancy. I will know the results in a couple of days. The doc said about 90% of people have a negative result.

After the blood work, I saw another doctor in the practice. He listened to Owen's heartbeat and measured my belly. We are still measuring right on track- 28 weeks! The doc said Owen currently weighs about 2 1/2 pounds. Based on the measurements and gestational age, he estimates Owen will weigh about 7 pounds total. It 's hard to believe that he will gain 5 more pounds in 12 weeks! Talk about being stretched to the max...

Our next big baby event is the 4D ultrasound on September 8th! I can't wait to see what Owen looks like!

A weekend of golf

I'm officially exhausted. This weekend was fun, but tiring! Saturday I went to a baby shower for my friend Allison. Allison is in my yoga class and due at the beginning of October. After the shower, we met some friends and headed out to the Wyndham golf tournament. Despite the heat, we walked around for a bit then headed back to Tara and Joel's house for dinner. On Sunday, we went back out to the tournament to follow Jerry Richardson. Jerry is Mary's (a friend from college) brother. He qualified this week and made the cut to play in his first PGA tournament! Jerry is from Burlington and played golf while in college at NC State. After Jerry finished, we decided to watch the end of the tournament on TV. We headed back to Heather and Jason's for more golf and dinner.

On a different note, we welcome the third and final trimester this week! Oh how time flies!

Wedding #1

On Saturday, Pat and I went to Asheville, NC for Heather and Gregg's wedding. We had a great time! We arrived in Asheville around 11 and went to eat lunch with Kathryn and Lamar and Lynn and Sammy Patterson. We also walked around downtown and went shopping at Biltmore Village.

The wedding was held at the Deerpark at Biltmore Saturday evening. We were worried about the weather, but thankfully it only sprinkled for about 5 minutes during the ceremony. However, it was HOT! For some reason, the Deerpark doesn't have air conditioner- go figure. Oh well, we enjoyed every minute of it, and wish Heather and Gregg a lifetime of love, laughter, and happiness!

P.S. I'm jealous...they are honeymooning in Fiji!

Our next wedding (Jay and Michele's) will also take place in Asheville in September.

Photos, Steaks, and Massages...

This weekend was eventful, but relaxing. Saturday afternoon I met a friend of mine, Lauren, for lunch. I am SO excited that she has agreed to take my maternity photos! Lauren and I have similar visions for settings/poses/etc. so I know they will be great! The photo shoot is scheduled for October in hopes that the leaves will be changing.

After lunch, Pat's parents scooped us up and we headed to Raleigh for the evening. While we were there we stopped by the Go Pack store (of course) and picked up a few things. We also went to see Katy and Paul's "new" house. It looks amazing! I know this whole process has been a nightmare for them, but in the end, they will have a gorgeous, new house.

The last stop on our agenda was the Angus Barn! It's a Lehman tradition to eat there when we have something to celebrate. This time it was for Paul's MBA. How exciting to know that in about a month he will graduate! Congrats Paul!

To end the weekend, my mom and I had massages today at Grandover. It felt wonderful! I didn't want it to end. I'm pretty sure Owen enjoyed it too! He kicked me the entire time (maybe he was making sure mommy didn't fall asleep)! After our massages, we ordered lunch and had it delivered to the pool where we spent the rest of the afternoon. Pure bliss.

24 week appointment

Today I went for my 24 week check-up (I'm 25 weeks on Thursday). I started my rotations, which means I will see a different doctor in the practice each time I go. At today's visit, the doctor measured my belly and listened to the heartbeat. I measured 24 inches, which is right on track! Typically, you want the inches to equal the weeks. I have also gained 4 pounds since my last visit at 20 weeks. From here on out, I should continue to gain a pound a week. I go back again in three weeks for the glucose test and to meet another doctor. After that, I go every 2 weeks!
