Our NYE was low key this year. Like I said in a previous post, we didn't go to Ohio, so we really didn't have any plans. We went out to dinner at Village Tavern then came home and watched the NYE special in our pj's! Times have definitely changed, but I wouldn't have it any other way :)

morning swim
This morning, we met Kathryn and Lamar at the gym and took Owen for a little swim. I was worried at first because we forgot his float, but he did great! He kicked his little legs, floated on his back, went down the slide over and over and over, played with the balls, and played on the steps. Several times I saw his teeth chattering, but he had a blast! I know he will love the pool again this summer!

Christmas 2012
Christmas is always a busy, but fun time of year. There is last minute shopping, wrapping, baking, and lots of family time. We knew Owen was at a fun age this year, so we were extra excited about Christmas for him. He wasn't a fan of sitting on Santa's lap, however, he loved finding Clark the elf every morning, riding around looking at Christmas lights, and helping wrap presents! He definitely felt the holiday spirit!
On Christmas Eve, we went to brunch at Print Works Bistro. We have done this the past three years, and look forward to it every year. After brunch, we spent the afternoon at the Lehmans.
When Pat was Owen's age, he took a picture in this little sleigh, so we wanted to do the same with Owen:
At 7:30 on Christmas morning, we decided to wake Owen up because both sets of grandparents, and Katy and Paul, came over to see what Santa brought. Usually it takes Owen a while to get going in the morning, but he jumped right out of bed and ran downstairs! He couldn't wait to see everyone!
We hope you had a very merry Christmas!

For dinner, we headed to my parents house. After we ate, we opened presents with the Riddle side of the family. Owen really enjoyed helping everyone. Believe it or not, he didn't go to bed until 9:30!

Christmas was finally complete the day after when we got to see baby #2 on the ultrasound. I forgot how much the baby looks like a person (and moves) as early as 12 weeks! It's absolutely amazing! He/she even gave a little wave! Thanks to the ultrasound tech for capturing this special moment!
If you look closely, you can see the hand waving right above the neck:
This year was the first year we didn't go to Ohio after Christmas. I was sad about it at first, but now I'm glad we have some extra time around here to clean out, organize, and relax before going back to work.
We hope you had a very merry Christmas!

One sick puppy
O is sick. First he had a viral infection, then croup, and now, he has a confirmed case of the flu. He literally has not moved from this spot ALL DAY. He's had a fever since Sunday and doesn't want to eat. I hate seeing him sick, however, I love the extra cuddles. Feel better soon little man!

Monday
Today was a day full of emotions and heavy hearts. As I sat in a safety meeting this morning, I thought about how thankful I am to have the opportunity to teach young children. It might not pay well, but gosh, the rewards are endless! I love my kids, I love my school, and I love my job. As the little ones came in this morning, they were full of excitement. Excitement to see each other, excitement to tell me about their weekend, and excitement that this is the last week before we get out for Christmas. These innocent children come to school and depend on me to teach them, hug them, and love them for who they are. I am blessed and honored to be one of many role models in their lives.
So thankful for another day...

Santa came to the marina!
We roasted marshmallows:
Patiently waited for Santa's arrival:
Greeted Santa on his boat:
And played on the firetruck:
This might be our new favorite tradition!
