1st Birthday Book
As you can see, I finally finished Owen's birthday book! It came in the mail this week. When I opened it, I noticed the title was really light, and not the color I originally picked. I double-checked myself on Shutterfly. Sure enough, it was supposed to be red. I emailed Shutterfly and told them about my issue. They quickly responded and said they were having some difficulties with the original color I chose so they would give me a coupon for a free photo book (so I could fix his birthday book, or make a completely new one). I decided to just make a new book from the holidays- two for the price of one! I better go get started...
Pink earrings
While digging through my jewelry box this morning, I came across a pair of pink earrings. Not just any ol' pink earrings. A special pair.
For our final exam, one of my professors at Meredith decided we should make jewelry. Jewelry that would mean something to us. Jewelry that we would dig out of our jewelry box and remember exactly where it came from. Jewelry that we would wear and be proud of. Jewelry that would be handed down to our daughters.
As I wore these pink little darlings, I was reminded of my time at Meredith and how valuable it was to me. I was reminded of professors who cared. I was reminded of my outstanding education. Most importantly, I was reminded that I can soar above the stars and be a successful woman in this ever-changing world.
A nice little reminder on a Saturday morning.

Today was a great day indeed! Some of it was captured on
my SLR (next post), and some on my cell phone. Enjoy!
After Owen's morning nap, we headed to Boston Market for lunch (don't judge, we had a free coupon!). After filling our bellies, we took Owen to get a haircut. This was his second one ever!
It's hard to believe it was in the 60's today. We had some old bread in the fridge so we thought it would be a good idea to take Owen to feed the ducks on this beautiful day. See the next post on the Bog Garden.
After the Bog Garden, we still had some time before Owen's afternoon nap, so we went to Barnes and Noble to read books, play with the train table, and build with Duplos.
We had a great time playing before bed tonight. Here, Owen was trying on a monster hand puppet:
His leg muscles are nice and strong...ready for walking!
This was amazing to watch him stack these finger crayons. He was SO patient! After repeated attempts, he managed to stack all 10!

Happy Birthday Mimi!
Yesterday was Mimi's birthday! We celebrated tonight by going out to dinner. When Papa Riddle got up to talk to an old friend from high school, Owen said, "Pop" over and over again! It was so cute! Mimi tried to get him to say her name, but he was just not interested. We have to work on that!
Owen was such a good boy at dinner. As always, he flirted with the waitresses, waved and said "bye-bye" to random people, and ate a TON of food! His favorite things tonight were the fried pickles and sweet potato fries.

Not bad for a Monday
Today was spent online shopping, spending time with O, hitting up a local kids consignment shop, and going out to dinner.
I'm so excited about today's purchases that I must share:
1. I purchased a 2 year subscription to Parents Magazine for $5.00! I found it on one of those daily deal websites!
2. Also on a daily deal website, were Scout bags and organizers. I came across these magazine/file folder holders for only $5.00 for 2! I thought they would look great on my desk at school.
3. I've been eyeing this sham on PB for quite a while. It recently went on sale, and today PB had free shipping on EVERYTHING! I took that as a sign to order this for Owen's big boy room:
Don't worry, we aren't transitioning him yet! I'm just collecting stuff as I come across it.
After Owen's morning nap, I drug him with me to Friendly Center to run in a few "mommy stores". He was very patient while I shopped, so I promised him a visit to the book store. He absolutely loves going to Barnes and Noble to read books and play with the train table! We also shared a rice krispie treat while we were there!
