A birthday party on the farm

We celebrated Daniel's 5th birthday at Still Water Farm today. It was so much fun! We rode horses, went on a hay ride, ate yummy cupcakes, and fed chickens! Owen was in heaven!

Saturday Shopping Spree

We finally started our Christmas shopping! Saturday we spent four hours shopping. We started off at Barnes and Noble where we stumbled upon a rooster...

The rooster was a special guest at storytime (he was there to promote the Greensboro Children's Museum). Owen and the rooster carried on a little conversation!

After we ate lunch we decided to take Owen to visit Santa. He was very interested in Santa Friday night at the marina, so we thought he would enjoy sitting on his lap this year.

Waiting in line: He did a lot of pointing and talking, but you could tell he wasn't quite sure what was going on!

Introducing Owen to Santa: I showed Owen that Santa was friendly by patting Santa's leg. Then Owen gave him a little pat!

He did it! No smiles though!

After the photo, he wanted to play with Santa's jingle bells!

Welcome Santa!

Friday night Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at our marina! We were there to see the grand entrance. Usually, Santa arrives by boat on the lake. This year, however, Santa arrived in the boat being pulled on a trailer! We could see Santa coming down Elm Street. Owen was so excited!! He especially loved the fire truck that drove in front of Santa! We enjoyed drinking hot chocolate, eating cookies, and watching all of the kids sit on Santa's lap (Owen did not sit on his lap because the line was too long).

It's That Time Of Year!

This past weekend we kicked off the holidays! Friday evening we had dinner with some friends at PF Changs, and Saturday afternoon we went downtown to watch the Greensboro Christmas parade. Owen's favorite things in the parade were the horses, balloons, and marching bands!

Babe, the Greensboro Grasshoppers bat girl:

Watching the parade from daddy's shoulders:

Very interested:

The Very Hungry Caterpillar:

Dr. Seuss:

After the parade, we went by Nanny and Pops' house to attempt Christmas card pics:

Saturday night we had our annual Tacky Sweater/Toys for Tots Christmas Party. It was held at Churchill's. Pat and I decided to switch it up a little this year. Instead of wearing holiday attire, we decided to go with a sports theme. He wore a NC State sweater and I wore a baseball sweater vest with matching earrings. Thanks K for providing our wardrobe!

Dean flew in from Dallas! It was so good to see him again!

We had a great time laughing at all of the tacky outfits, catching up with all of our friends, and dancing to the fabulous band, Walrus. The best part about the evening was seeing all of the toys collected! What a wonderful way to kick off the holidays!

Spencer's party and outside decorations

This afternoon we headed down to Raleigh to celebrate Spencer's 1st birthday (which is the same day as Owen's). As you can see from the pics, it was a football themed party. We had fun celebrating with the birthday boy, and visiting with our Raleigh friends.

Cuteness!

Owen enjoyed playing with the pool balls.

After we got back to Greensboro, we went to see our supper club friends, Lindsey and Blake. They couldn't make it to Owen's birthday party so they gave him his gift today. Their pup, Molly Kate, helped Owen open his gift and he thought that was hilarious! He laughed so hard- I'm talking deep belly laughs! Lindsey got it on video so I will see if she can send it to me. We are very excited for Lindsey and Blake because they are having a little one in June!

Since we were already out and about, we decided to stop by K&W for dinner. It's not our favorite place to go, but it was close by. Plus, Owen had never been to K&W before! He enjoyed riding through the line in a high chair, eating fried okra and sweet potatoes, and drinking milk out of a mini milk jug! We bumped into Emily and Jeff, more of our friends, while at K&W.

Going for a ride in the high chair:

Once we got home and put Owen to bed, we decorated the outside of our house. This year we decided to switch it up a little. Instead of the usual garland on the banisters, we put lights in the bushes and bought 2 light-up trees for the front porch.
