My 1st piece of painted furniture!

With only a couple of months to go, baby girl's nursery is almost complete!  We are using the same furniture that Owen had, with a few minimal changes.  Here was the bookcase in Owen's nursery:

I can honestly say that I've never painted a piece of furniture before until now!  After adding a lighter end table, and painting the bookcase, it's amazing how much bigger the room seems.  Now, the only piece of dark furniture we have is the changing table.  

I didn't really have a them for the nursery this time, but I'm loving how everything is coming together!

Sports Saturday

We were up and at 'em this morning as we prepared for Owen's first running race.  He participated in the Bengal Dash at my school.  The Kids Dash was half way around the track.  We weren't sure if he would know what to do, or even complete the race, but he did!  As soon as they blew the horn, he took off...galloping!  It was the cutest thing ever!  After he crossed the finish line, he got a medal!  

After the Bengal Dash, we headed straight to swim lessons.  I didn't get in the pool this time so I was able to take some pictures of our little fish.

When we asked him if he liked running or swimming better, he said running!  That's my boy!

Owen has done so much lately, so I want to write everything down before I forget!  Currently, he...

-started using complete sentences
-repeats everything we say
-reads several books to Pat and I from memorization
-knows his colors
-can count to 10
-sings the ABCs
-knows right and left
-eats banana peppers out of the jar!
-completes puzzles independently
-likes to put his pants and shoes on by himself
-wants to help with everything
-remembers everything
-used his potty 3 days in a row (before bath in the evening)
-makes his bed
-earns an allowance by rolling the trash can to the curb and bringing it back in the evening
-buckles himself in his car seat
-loves to say "right here"
-started taking swim lessons (he is working on paddling and kicking)
-gives driving directions to school, the gym, and the pool
-recognizes banks, churches, and hospitals

and...
He got to feel (and see) his baby sister move in my belly for the first time this week :)

28 weeks!

Today we entered the 3rd trimester!  Only 12 more weeks (or less) to go :)

Summer haircut

We finally took Owen to get his summer haircut...he was well over due!

Living Proof Live

Friday evening and Saturday morning my bible study group went to see Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell at the Greensboro Coliseum.  I've never seen either one of them in person before so this was definitely a treat!  The praise team, lead by Travis, brought me back to my younger years when I used to sing in the youth choir.  I was excited to hear/sing two of my favorite songs, Victory in Jesus and Shout to the Lord!

As I imagined, Beth Moore was outstanding!  I love how real she is.  She often tells women how she was in that "pit" that many people are in today.  She has been there and done that.  Now her calling is to teach women who desire to model their lives on evangelical Christian principles.

What an awesome experience!

This weekend Owen went to the bird store with his Nanny and Pops.  He came home with this little bird feeder.  It's basically a little bowl with a hook on it.  A bag of meal worms came with the bird feeder.  I asked Owen what kind of birds were going to eat the worms and he said, "blue bird".  He was right!  The first bird to eat the worms was this little guy.  He visits us every morning!  

After going to a play date at his friend Aiden's house, Owen has been obsessed with piggy banks.  When I showed him his bank that was in his closet, he got so excited!  I told him he has to help mommy and daddy around the house to get money to put in his bank.  One of the many things he started helping with is taking out and bringing in the trash cans.  When he does his jobs, he earns change to put in his piggy bank.  I wonder what he will buy...

Remember when I mentioned gaining weight and swelling with this pregnancy?  This is what my feet looked like when I took my shoes off tonight.  My shoes had a strap that went across the top of my foot.  As you can see, the strap pushed the swelling to the top of my foot and into my toes.  I've tried to elevate my feet at night, but staying off them during the day is nearly impossible!  I'm glad the warmer weather is here, but it's a lot more exhausting!    Only 12 more weeks to go!

This little fish is all signed up to start taking swimming lessons in a few weeks!  We'll let you know how it goes!

Ear tubes

We were up bright and early this morning and headed to the Surgical Center for Owen's ear tubes.  I was worried Owen would be grumpy because we had to wake him up (and he couldn't have anything to eat or drink before the surgery).  With all of the excitement about going to the hospital, he was perfectly content!  We told him we were going to see his doctor so he could fix his sick ears.

Praise God everything went so well!  Hopefully we are all done with ear infections forever!

Easter!

This year we spent Easter at the beach.  The weather was cool, but that didn't stop us from an afternoon walk on the beach!  

We missed our friends at church, but we will see them again this Sunday.  Happy Easter everyone!
