One week ago today, I got the phone call- the phone call that informed me my granny had passed away. I knew it was coming, I just didn't want to face reality. When my mom told me my granny was sick, I said she would be okay. When she told me she had pneumonia, and blood clots, and failing organs, I said she would be okay. I had hope...hope that I would get to see her again soon. I hoped to tell her what baby #2 was, I hoped to let her see how much Owen had changed, and I hoped to say good-bye. It's not easy being far away from family and loved ones, especially when they are ill. You want to hold their hand, but you can't. You want to hug them, but you can't. You want to help in any way that you can, but you can't. It's hard and it's a helpless feeling.
Now all I have left are the memories we shared together. We didn't see each other much because of our distance apart, however, we loved each other dearly. She was my grandmother and I was her granddaughter- the oldest, the first born.
Granny left behind five children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. It was so nice to travel to Ohio to spend time with my family. I was finally able to hold their hands, hug them, and spend hours in conversation as we walked down memory lane. We celebrated granny the way she would have wanted us to celebrate her.
I love you granny, and I cannot wait to meet again in Heaven!!
